What to Expect During Your Visit
Medical History Review
Our team will discuss your child's symptoms, medical history, family history, and developmental milestones. We'll review previous treatments and their effectiveness.
Physical and Neurological Examination
The doctor will perform a comprehensive neurological examination, which may include:
- Assessment of reflexes, muscle strength, and coordination
- Evaluation of sensation and balance
- Testing of cognitive and developmental skills
- Observation of movement and behavior
Discussion and Planning
After the evaluation, the doctor will discuss findings with you and may recommend:
- Additional testing (lab work, imaging, or specialized studies)
- Treatment options including medications or therapies
- Referrals to other specialists when appropriate
- Follow-up appointments

After Your Visit
Treatment Adherence
- Follow medication instructions carefully
- Keep track of your child's response to treatments
- Maintain a symptom diary if recommended
- Don't stop medications without consulting our office
Communication
- We encourage questions - no concern is too small
- Contact us if you notice significant changes in your child's condition
- Report any medication side effects promptly
- Keep scheduled follow-up appointments
Insurance and Billing
- We accept most major insurance plans
- Prior authorization may be required for certain tests or procedures
- Co-pays are due at the time of service
- Our billing department can help with payment arrangements if needed

Appointment Policies

Prescription Refills
- Allow three working days for prescription refills
- Call during regular business hours for refill requests
- We may require an appointment for certain medication adjustments
Emergency Situations
- For life-threatening emergencies, call 911
- For urgent concerns after hours, call our office number for on-call instructions
- Know when to seek immediate medical attention (prolonged seizures, severe headaches, etc.)
Supporting Your Child's Care
At Home
- Maintain consistent medication schedules
- Ensure adequate sleep and nutrition
- Create a safe environment if your child has seizures
- Encourage age-appropriate activities and social interaction
At School
- Communicate with teachers about your child's condition
- Provide necessary medications and action plans to school staff
- Consider accommodations that may help your child succeed academically
